A personal experiment, now an app

Hear the Ding,
get the (ha)Bit.

I built DingBit for myself — a simple tool that uses classical conditioning to make good habits automatic. It worked for me, and it can potentially improve your quality of life too.

What you get

Simple by design

DingBit does one thing and does it well — trains your brain to build habits through classical conditioning.

Scheduled Dings

Set your intervals. The ding plays on time, every time. Distinctive wellness sounds become your personal conditioning cue.

Apple Watch

A haptic tap on your wrist. Complete habits without reaching for your phone. The Watch becomes your personal bell.

Streak Tracking

Watch your consistency grow day by day. Every completed ding builds your streak and reinforces the habit loop.

100% Private

No accounts, no cloud, no tracking. All your data stays on your device. Your habits are your business.

The science

How DingBit works

Based on classical conditioning — the same science behind Pavlov's famous experiment. But instead of dogs and bells, it's you and your habits.

01

Choose your habit

Breathe, stretch, hydrate, meditate — pick anything you want to make automatic. Give it a name and a distinctive sound.

02

Set your schedule

Pick an interval (every 30 minutes, every hour) and your active hours. DingBit handles the rest — reliable, on time.

03

Hear the ding, do the thing

A distinctive sound plays on your iPhone or a haptic tap lands on your Apple Watch. You do your habit. Tap to confirm. That's it.

04

Watch it become automatic

After a few weeks of consistent pairing, your brain connects the sound to the action. The habit runs on autopilot — that's classical conditioning at work.

Questions?

Frequently asked

Yes — you can use up to 3 habits completely free, with no time limit. A Supporter tier is available for unlimited habits, advanced analytics, and extra customization.

100%. DingBit is entirely local — no internet connection needed, ever. All your data stays on your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no servers involved.

Not at all. DingBit works perfectly on iPhone alone with sound notifications. The Apple Watch app adds haptic taps on your wrist for a more immersive conditioning experience, but it's completely optional.

Classical conditioning is one of the most well-studied phenomena in psychology, with over a century of research. The principle is simple: repeated pairing of a cue (the ding) with an action creates an automatic response over time. DingBit applies this same science to your daily habits.

None. DingBit stores your habits and completion history on your device only. We don't have accounts, we don't have servers, and we have no way to access your data. Your habits are entirely private.

Anything that can be done in a moment: breathing exercises, drinking water, stretching, posture checks, gratitude practice, mindful pauses — any small action you want to make automatic.
